Huhn Cycles in Germany just opened pre-orders for their latest steel full-suspension trail bike, the Chabo. The Huhn Chabo mixes a classic steel frame and flex stay suspension with 3D-printed details for equal parts “adventure and durability.” Learn more here…
Ralf Holleis, owner and framebuilder at Huhn Cycles in Germany, won the “Best MTB” award at Bespoked Dresden 2024 with his stunning pink mountain bike known as “Chabo.” Inspired by the resilient Chabo chicken, this bike is built for adventure and durability. As Lukas from Huhn Cucles puts it, “The Chabo is his lovechild—born from a year of prototyping, endless CAD hours, and the dream of creating the ultimate steel trail bike.”

The Huhn Chabo is a steel full-suspension trail bike designed for 130mm front suspension, 120mm rear suspension, and versatile and responsive handling. It uses a progressive flex pivot rear suspension design, a Reynolds 853 steel frame, and has mounts for three 750ml bottles (two inside and one under the downtube). It can be set up with both internal and external headset cable routing. It has a threaded T47 bottom bracket, boost hub spacing, clearance for 29 x 2.5″ tires, and relies on a SRAM UDH rear dropout.
The Huhn Chabo is offered in just three size options (M-XL) with angles that Huhn describes as “modern geometry tailored for both technical trail riding and bikepacking.” Each size features a slack 65.5° head tube angle, steep 78° seat tube angle, 450mm chainstays, and a 38mm bottom bracket drop. See the complete geometry chart below.

Each Chabo is finished with durable KTL coating, which fully coats the frame inside and out, using the same high standards as in the automotive industry. The exterior is then painted with a Cerakote coating, celebrated for its resilience and sleek appearance. Four standard colors (Crushed Orchid, Pink Champagne, Jesse James, Savage Stainless) are available, and custom paint jobs are also offered upon request.
Pre-orders are open now, and completed frames are expected to ship in March. Frames start at €3,800 (~$3,960 USD) with a Cerakote finish or €3,200 for powder coated. Learn more at HuhnCycles.com.
