SUMMARY:The Oregon Timber Trail Grand Depart (2020)
DESCRIPTION:The Oregon Timber Trail Grand Depart is a 670 mile point to point bikepacking challenge. The route traverses the state South to North from California to Washington. The OTT is heavily focused on providing a true mountain bike experience by connecting stunning segments of singletrack through the diverse landscapes found in Oregon. To complete the full route\, one will gain over 67\,000 vertical feet and pass through some very rugged and remote segments. \nThe OTTGD is similar to The Colorado Trail Ride\, The Arizona Trail Ride and numerous other quasi underground self-supported bikepacking “events” or “grand departs.” A route description\, GPX track\, suggested start time and list of results will be provided. Complete the full route under your own power with no outside support\, caches\, crews and pre-arranged meetings. Be courteous to all trail users and display proper etiquette at all times (ie. yielding to other users\, obey all laws etc). \nAll riders must be experienced backcountry travelers and understand their responsibilities. Minimize your impact to the environment and be diligent with Leave No Trace Principals. The OTTGD is unaffiliated with any outside organization\, though all individuals participating are strongly encouraged to donate time or money to the Oregon Timber Trail Alliance. Without them\, we wouldn’t have this route! \nhttps://oregontimbertrail.org/donate
