I am an avid user of the Bikepacking.com routes. I just completed cross USA bike adventure west to east so naturally I'm now focused on "what's next"? I want to plan 2 weeks (give or take) in January 2026 in the US (or Mexico) that gets me onto gravel and into the sunshine. I'm 63 years of age and like to challenge myself but to insanely crazy! What do you recommend for route considerations? Thank you! Tony Sirianni

But, it's probably a little more approachable than the Baja Divide. What's your tolerance/preference for chunky terrain and dirt roads?

It's a unique desert landscape (very different than Utah/Moab area desert). There are numerous routes that could be tied together to make a route of 2 weeks, and accessibility is great from Tucson's airport.

This sounds perfect…imagining chilly nights / mornings so a 4 season set up would seem to make sense. I’m ok with chunky roads as I’ve done GDMBR and found some of those to be moonscape-like. I’m not into hoisting my bike over stuff…wheels on the ground is usually my strong preference. I’ll look at some posted routes to cobble a 2 week trip together. Always Planning My Next Adventure! Thanks for the great insight. Tony
