I’d love to explore outside of the PNW- Europe specifically. Any advice on the best way to fly with my rig? Are the Thule Rountrip Hardcases a viable option? What’s tried and true method, best airlines etc.? Thanks!

Hey! Last year I bikepacked the European Divide Trail (France to Spain, my first bikepacking ride) with a big rear bag, frame bag, and a handlebar bag for clothes and cooking. This year I’m going from Valence up to the Vosges and then Zurich. I’ve got two 5-liter Old Man Mountain mini panniers. Initially, I thought I’d put them on the fork to distribute weight more evenly, but after seeing a lot of Tour Divide rigs with empty forks, I’m hesitant. Does weight distribution benefit or should I leave the fork clean?

Hi folks! Is there a route from Seattle to San Francisco that doesn’t involve feeling like a contestant in The Running Man on the 101- i.e. gravel, backroads etc.?

Deep carbon wheels for bikepacking? I'm looking at 35 or 45mm deep carbon rims (specifically Light Bicycle WR35/45) for a Norco Search carbon gravel bike. I'm interest in more aero wheels for recreational racing, but also will use the bike for endurance/light bikepacking and steep/techy roads and single track here in the PNW. Does anyone have experience with carbon wheels for this type of riding, and would you encourage more or less depth (or something different entirely)? Thanks!

Curious about the viability of inserting a small (e.g. 5mm) precision spacer between the fork crown and lower race in order to match the original fork length if the replacement fork is slightly shorter (e.g. 425mm versus 430mm). It seems the headset system wouldn’t know the difference, whereas the steerer tube would be reacting loads that much offset from the designed location but which should be pretty minor.

Other factors aside, does anyone think that carrying more weight than usual in a waist pack could contribute to saddle-soreness? I switched from a relatively light camera to a relatively heavy camera. Could it tilt the pelvis/sit bones or something like that? Thanks kindly

I have a trek CheckOUT, if I mount a 3-pack or bottle cage mount bag on the side of the rear rack, the bag rubs on my heal or leg. If I could mount the bags upright, I could dodge this issue. Has anyone come up with a way to do this?

Not really asking for Route Advice, but I can't see where else to ask this.... On our For Sale and Messaging part of Basecamp, it sure would nice if we could close out old conversation we participated in but was not the seller. Reason, there is no reason to see them once the conversation is over and we have all moved on without having a transaction. Over time, it's just unwanted clutter.

1. Recommendations for ultra fabric (UHMWPE, e.g., Ultra, Ecopak, Dyneema, Aluula, etc.) bags? In particular I'm looking for top tube bags at the moment. I see Dispersed and Rogue Panda have options, who else? 2. Ultralight strap options: I am not a fan of TPU straps like Voilé or Tailfin's (heavy, not very flexible, a bit finicky). Any recs for nylon or other lightweight straps for bikepacking bags?

Hi y'all - planning on riding the Chama Charmer in early July. Has anyone left a car near the Cumbres Pass north trailhead (looks like there should be dispersed camping available just past it off Trujillo Meadows Road)? It'd be great to cut those first 12 pavement miles out. Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, this year I'm considering getting a custom wedge bag for my bike. I really enjoy having access to a bottle to drink while riding. Will I regret the missed space if I skip the full frame bag in favor of a water bottle?
