Hi there, I have been looking at my next bike for bikepacking and I would like to get a hard tail but with so many options it’s hard to narrow it down. I was looking at the sklar tall tale and otso fenrir. I currently have a Kona rove and haven’t spent much time on hardtails but I want to be able to do some more technical stuff. I was looking at not more then 130mm of travel. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Neuhaus fan here as well. Hardtail Party on YouTube is a great resource too.

Esker's hardtail lineup is pretty impressive. A lot of built-in versatility with the Japhy, for example. Neuhaus Hummingbird is also great—one of my personal faves. I've also heard good things about the Fairlight, but it's a little more XC/conservative. If you wanted to stick with Kona, the Unit X is another excellent choice, but it probably maxes out at a 120mm fork.
