The bag is experiencing seam separation due to the manufacturing process used. This can be repaired by using an appropriate adhesive such as Gear Aid Aquaseal FD Repair Adhesive, commonly available at REI. Alternatively, it would make a nice pattern and donor parts for someone sewing their own gear.
