Today’s Weekend Snapshot features a diverse mix of pedal-powered journeys shared by members of our global bikepacking community, who transport us to trails in Europe, Asia, and Africa. You can find a brief look at their unique trips below. After you’ve done so, be sure to keep scrolling down to share scenes from your recent rides, as we’d love to highlight them here on the site, no matter how big or small they may be!
Spain
By Dominiek Hots (@alpas_cycles)
My brother and I recently rode the Pirinexus bikepacking route. This shot was taken on top of the Col d’Ares on the border between France and Spain. The scenery in the Pyrenees is absolutely marvelous, and we had a very sunny trip.
Shimizu Pass, Japan
By Tappei Yoshida (@otakuhouseorg)
Shimizu Highway was built by the Japanese government in 1885. It was built as a highway, but Japan at the time was just in the process of modernization, so civil engineering technology was inexperienced, and the road collapsed just a month after construction. Currently, only hikers or bicycles can pass, as shown in the photo.
Luanda Province, Angola
By Pedro Cunha (@pedro_klecius)
A spectacular coastal route in Africa that has this lighthouse as a base for bike camping. A few kilometers away is one of the largest abandoned ship depots on the planet.
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: we prefer 3:2 ratio landscape oriented photos.
