The Overland Archive Podcast, a new project from 2018 Tour Divide winner Lewis Ciddor, is a bikepacking-focused podcast that will showcase stories from Australia and beyond. Learn about the podcast and where to listen here…
Words by Lewis Ciddor (@xshippx)
Overland Archive started as a blog cataloguing routes across Victoria before fizzling out. I decided to focus more on establishing quality routes as races/events to encourage more people to get out and experience them, rather than simply sharing what I had ridden. This allowed me to focus more on cherry picking the best bits and showcasing the best riding I think Victoria has to offer.
The blog fell to the wayside but I still wanted to have a platform to continue to share stories and adventures with a focus on Australia, but will definitely be featuring some international guests to share bikepacking experiences from around the globe. I really enjoy the podcast medium and believe I have something to offer that doesn’t yet exist amongst the handful of current bikepacking podcasts.
The first episode will be featuring several short interviews, sharing an array of perspectives on the Victoria Divide route ahead of the 2020 grand depart this Saturday.
My personal bikepacking experience includes riding the Hunt 1000, creating the Victoria Divide route, winning the 2018 GDT 400 and setting a course record, winning the 2018 Tour Divide, DNF in the 2019 Colorado Trail Race and countless days riding in the Victorian High Country, in many rugged and remote places where few cyclists have ever ridden.
