Rigs of the 2019 Adirondack Trail Ride (TATR)

Thanks in advance for spreading the word!

The 5th annual Adirondack Trail Ride (TATR) took off this morning from Northville, New York, following a challenging mix of trail and service road through the 6-million acre Adirondack Park. We stopped by the grand depart, and with the help from the riders, we’ve put together rider portraits and details on their rigs. Check them all out here…

The Adirondack Trail Ride (TATR), pronounced tate-r, is a self-supported bikepacking adventure through the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. The grande depart, which occurs annually on the second Friday of September, takes off from the small town of Northville. From there, riders set off on a 550+ mile journey along forest service roads, double track, single track, some pavement, and a healthy amount of bushwhacking. From what we’ve heard, and experienced, the TATR is no walk in the park. Each year, almost half of the participants scratch from the event, while those who finish usually take five or more days. The current men’s record is held by Shane Kramer at 3 days, 12 hours, 53 minutes, and the women’s record by Jody Dixon at 11 days, 6 hours, 2 minutes.

With help from the participants, we’ve put together a list of those tackling the event this year. We included name, age, hometown, bike details, bikepacking bags, and favourite gear. We were also able to swing by the grand depart to capture rider portraits, and to send the group off. Good luck to everyone, and enjoy the ride! You can follow the event live over at the event listing.
