Inspired by the Wo and Wozo, the new Kona Woo looks like the most capable, bikepacking-friendly fat bike of the three. With big tires, more mounts, and a mid-range price tag, the Woo looks like a great package. Check out all of the details here…

New for 2020, the Kona Woo takes features and design characteristics from both the Kona Wo and Wozo to make what Kona describes as “the ultimate fat bike utilizing our favourite attributes from its siblings in the lineup.” At first glance, the Woo definitely lives up to these claims, outfitted with a new carbon fork with triple cage mounts, massive 26 x 4.8″ tires, and bolt-on frame bag compatibility.

Aside from some updated components, mainly the budget SRAM SX-Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, Kona’s new carbon fat bike fork, and a chunky wheelset, the 2020 Kona Woo has a unique geometry that, as expected, falls right in between the Wo and Wozo. First up, the front end of the Woo gets raised up when compared to the Wo, its closest sibling. More stack height, a higher standover, and a longer front-centre will likely translate to a comfortable and super stable ride in all conditions. The Woo has a slightly lowered bottom bracket and shorter chainstays than the Wo, meaning it’ll likely be fun to ride in both the snow and on dirt trails.

Unlike the Wo, the Woo does not have mounts for a rear rack. Rather, it has rack compatibility on the front end. It would have been nice if both were included, as most riders out there prefer loading up rear panniers over a front rack, especially when riding on snow. We do see externally routed cables, dropper post compatibly, and the stock Vee Snow Avalanche tires are aggressive, yet fast rolling, and can be studded for extra grip.
