It’s hard to argue with the value offered by the Kona Unit and Unit X. They both come complete with Reynolds 520 Chromoly steel frames, 29 x 2.6″ tires, plenty of mounts, and a versatile geometry that’s practical for nearly any situation. The 2021 Unit X and Unit were just announced, and although they haven’t received any geometry updates, they both get new paint colors and updated build kits. 2021 Kona Unit X

The geared Kona Unit X offers a lot for the price. Sliding dropouts, thru-axles, and big 29 x 2.6″ WTB Ranger tires are all stock for just $1,399 USD. Carried over from last year, the 2021 Kona Unit X is based around a SRAM SX-Eagle 1×12 drivetrain, but gets a new Gloss Metallic Rust with Dark Seafoam colorway.

It shares all the same specs at the Unit X, minus the gears, and retails for just $1,199 for the complete build or as a frameset for $599 USD. For 2021, the Kona Unit comes with a Satin Fatgue Green w/ Gloss Yellow paint job, and we’re digging it.
