Soma just updated their Grand Randonneur with disc brakes, thru-axles, new dropouts, and revised geometry. Learn all about the latest version of their 650b randonneur frameset here…

Soma describes their Grand Randonneur as “a svelte road frame optimized to carry a front load.” It’s made from double butted Tange Prestige CrMo tubes, has a 1″ lugged crown fork with low-rider rack mounts, and is optimized for 650b wheels with clearance for 47mm semi-knob tires. The geometry is tailed to hauling front loads, which helps maintain good handling with a front rack, basket, or bag. The latest version maintains these characteristics while increasing its overall stability.

Other updates include Tange Modular rear dropouts with 142mm x 12mm thru-axles and IS disc brake mounts as stock, with options to run quick-release and other standards if desired. They’ve increased the tire clearance, added an additional size, and have maintained the vintage touring look that the Grand Randonneur is known for. The Grand Randonneur frameset retails for $899, comes in seven different sizes, and weighs 6.65 pounds.
