Launched last year, Germany-based Sour Bicycles just announced its 2021 lineup, which includes a new versatile steel hardtail called the Pasta Party and updates across the entire range. Find all the details here…

We put together a detailed introduction for Dresden-based Sour Bicycles last summer, which you can check out here if you’re unfamiliar. In short, Sour offers a complete lineup of steel bikes, including everything from dirt jumpers to hardtail mountain bikes and gravel bikes. Although not a whole lot has changed for 2021, Sour has introduced a brand new Hardtail Mountain Bike, new features across the board, a new dropout design, and a new integrated seat post clamp. Find details on what’s new below.

2021 Purple Haze

Although the geometry has remained the same for 2021, the Purple Haze received new internal downtube cable routing, internal dropper post routing, and a slightly lower standover height. The Purple Haze also receives Sour’s updated dropout design, while maintaining thru-axle hub spacing, clearance for 700 x 55mm (29 x 2.1″) tires, plus fender and rack mounts.

  • Frame: Chromoly Steel
  • Headtube: 44mm
  • Bottom Bracket: 68mm BSA Threaded
  • Seatpost: 27.2mm
  • Brakes: Flat Mount
  • Sizes: XS-XXL

2021 Clueless

The Sour Clueless received the most updates for 2021, expanding its all-road capabilities with increased tire clearance, internal cable routing, lower standover height, and an additional bottle mount under the down tube. It features a standard 68mm threaded bottom bracket, clearance for 700 x 42mm tires, thru-axles, plus fender and racks mounts.

  • Frame: Chromoly Steel
  • Headtube: EC34/ EC44 Tapered
  • Bottom Bracket: 68mm BSA Threaded
  • Seatpost: 27.2mm
  • Brakes: Flat Mount
  • Sizes: XS-XXL

2021 Crumble

The Crumble is Sour’s take on a modern trail bike. It features a long reach, not-too-steep head tube angle, and is described as being “nothing too fancy and experimental, just like your favourite crumble pie.” It features their new integrated seatpost clamp, dropouts, and has boost hub spacing. The frame is designed around 29″ wheels with clearance for 2.5″ tires, and Sour added an additional bottle mount, internal cable routing, and an updated 66.5° head tube angle.

  • Frame: Chromoly Steel
  • Headtube: 44mm
  • Bottom Bracket: 73mm BSA Threaded
  • Seatpost: 31.6mm
  • Brakes: Post Mount
  • Sizes: S-XL

2021 Pasta Party

New for this year is the Pasta Party, designed as a bridge between the Purple Haze and the Crumble. It’s a versatile hardtail that’s equally suited for big adventures as it is zipping around town. It features an eccentric shell bottom bracket, boost hub spacing, clearance for 29 x 2.4″ tires, and is best suited for 100-120mm travel forks.

  • Frame: Chromoly Steel
  • Headtube: EC34/EC44 Tapered
  • Bottom Bracket: 68mm BSA Eccentric
  • Seatpost: 27.2mm
  • Brakes: Flat Mount
  • Sizes: TBD

2021 Bad Granny

The Bad Granny is here to remind us that “single speed, rigid forks, and a laid back geometry is everything you need to have the most fun on a bike.” It’s a modern take on a klunker, and we think it looks pretty rad. It features a threaded eccentric shell bottom bracket, thru-axle hub spacing, is suspension corrected (80-100mm), and has clearance for 650B x 2.4″ / 29 x 2.3″ tires.

  • Frame: Chromoly Steel
  • Headtube: 44mm
  • Bottom Bracket: 68mm BSA Eccentric
  • Seatpost: 31.6mm
  • Brakes: IS2000 Disc
  • Sizes: TBD
2021 Bad Granny

All of the models can be purchased as a frame only for 799€, except for the Bad Granny which is 749€, and framesets retail between 999€ and 1049€. The Clueless and Purple Haze complete builds start at 2650€, with five different drivetrain options, different tire and cockpit setups, two different hand-built wheels, and more.

All of these purchasing options include 3-5 standard powder coat options, gloss or matt finish, and silver or black decals and headbadges. All powder coating is done after an order is placed, so normal lead times for frame and color in stock are 10-14 business day to have the order ready for shipping.

Sour also has an updated dirt jumper, the Cancan, plus a full-suspension mountain bike in the works called Double Choc. You can find purchasing options and detailed information at Sour.Bike, which was just updated with all of the latest specs.
