The new 2022 Sutra LTD looks suspiciously similar (identical) to the more capable Sutra ULTD that Logan reviewed here. The LTD is now kitted out with all of the mounting points you could ever need, including top tube and down tube mounts and eight bosses inside the main triangle. It has rack mounts, fender mounts, and a chromoly steel fork with a three-pack of bosses on either leg for hauling even more stuff. Read on for details, and find out what will become of the ULTD…
The 2022 Kona Sutra LTD also gets a completely new geometry, which mirrors that of the 2021 Sutra ULTD. Compared to the previous LTD, this means a slacker head tube angle, longer wheelbase, slightly higher bottom bracket, and a sloping top tube for more standover height and room for the included dropper post. And just like the ULTD, it’s based around 12mm thru-axles, a SRAM 1×11 drivetrain with hydraulic brakes, and comes stock with an adjustable TranzX dropper post.
So yes, the 2022 Kona Sutra LTD is pretty much the 2021 Sutra ULTD—which we can only assume means that more conservative LTD is no more, along with the ULTD name. The complete build kit is also a mirror image of the ULTD, and it’s really only the new “Gloss Metallic Dragonfly” paint job that has changed. As expected, the 2022 Sutra LTD comes in at a slightly higher price point than the 2021 version, retailing for $2,599 USD. It’s also available as a frame/fork combo for $635 USD.
