When UK-based mountain bike brand Nukeproof first launched the Digger in 2017, they took a hard look at the definition of gravel riding and came up with their own take on a drop-bar bike with pro mountain biker Sam Hill leading the conversation. The result was a do-it-all rig that’s a little different from most gravel bikes—one that’s designed and specced “with the soul of a mountain bike.” In short, it has a slightly more gravity-forward geometry and is built with wide bars, a dropper post, and a 1x drivetrain. The 2022 Nukeproof Digger’s hydroformed 6060-T6 triple-butted aluminum frame was completely revamped with all-new tubing profiles that Nukeproof claims make it stronger and more reliable in the backcountry. The frame also has a head tube that’s 2° slacker and an increased reach that makes it 20mm longer across all sizes. This pushes it more into mountain bike territory by providing the ability to use a shorter stem to improve confidence and control on descents and in the corners.

The new frame was bumped up in the tire clearance department, too. Nukeproof suggests that it comfortably clears tires up to 700C x 45mm or 650B x 47mm with about 7mm of added mud clearance. We’re guessing that means it could probably fit a 50mm 29er or 27.5 x 2.1″ tire if you wanted to squeeze bigger rubber in there.

The 2022 Nukeproof Digger also got a brand new high-modulus T800 UD carbon fork, which they claim has improved stiffness and handling, but still smooths out trail chatter and offers compliance over rough terrain. Here are the remainder of the specs from Nukeproof:
