The 2023 Surly Krampus was just released, and it features fresh build kits and two new color options: Nose Drip Curry and British Racing Green. Find more details and photos here…

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a decade since the Surly Krampus was unveiled. It was the first production plus-sized tire bike around, with 29+ tires, off-road-friendly geometry, and a Chromoly steel frame. A couple of us here can thank the Krampus for our introduction to bikepacking, and it’s safe to say the original Moonlit Swamp Green colorway will always hold a special place in our hearts.

While a lot has changed over the years, the underlying DNA of the Krampus has remained fairly consistent. It’s still based around high-volume 29+ tires and a steel frame, but it saw a major update in 2017, which included revised geometry, more mounting points, Gnot-Boost 12mm x 145mm rear dropout spacing, internal dropper post routing, and a 30.9mm seat post tube.

While there are no major updates for 2023, Surly just introduced two new paint jobs: Nose Drip Curry and British Racing Green. Both are available as a frame/rigid fork or as complete builds—Nose Drip Curry with a suspension fork and dropper post and the British Racing Green as a fully rigid setup. The suspension build comes with a 120mm travel RockShox 35 Gold RL fork, TranzX dropper post, Shimano Deore XT 12-speed rear derailleur, Tektro Gemini hydraulic brakes, and 29 x 2.6″ tires. The rigid build comes with their Chromoly steel fork, a Shimano Deore 12-speed rear derailleur, Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes, and 29 x 3.0″ tires.

The suspension build and rigid builds retail for $2,649 and $1,849 USD, respectively, or $999 for a frameset option. Head over to SurlyBikes.com or your local Surly dealer to learn more.
