The 2026 Tumbleweed Prospector is available in two new colors: Olive Green and Teal. This is the first time in five years it’s been updated. Take a closer look at both here…
The Tumbleweed Prospector is a purpose-built dirt-touring frame that was originally launched back in 2016. It took a top spot in our 2017 Gear of the Year Awards for its capabilities as an expedition bike, and also won the Collective Choice “best mountain bike” in our 2019 Gear of the Year Awards. The Prospector was updated in 2021 with internal dropper post routing, improved tire clearance to better fit 29 x 3.0″, 27.5 x 3.8”, and 26 x 4.0″ tires, and a choice of 110mm and 150mm thru-axle forks. Since then, the Prospector has been available in two color options: Desert Sage and Midnight Blue, so we’re excited to see two fresh paint jobs on the way.
The latest batch of Prospectors shares the same specs as the previous version but is now available in Olive Green, a great neutral that pairs well with silver or black components, and Teal, which is a throwback to their first production run of Prospectors and a tribute to the 10th anniversary of the flagship model. This version is a couple shades darker than the original to make the gold decals pop.
The price on the new frameset is $1,650. The complete standard build costs $4,975, which is Tumbleweed’s recommended do-everything build option for loaded touring, and can be customized to suit each rider since all complete builds are done frame-up. The website currently displays the old pricing, but it will be updated once the new colors are added.
The current Sage and Midnight colors won’t be restocked, so if you’ve had your eyes on either of them, it’s a good time to jump on one. If you want to put your name on one of the new Prospectors and get into their build queue for a complete bike, then you’ll need to reach out to the folks at Tumbleweed. They are accepting orders for January/February delivery. Visit Tumbleweed.cc to learn more.
