Last year, Richard Haldane pedaled around Scotland. Intent on documenting his solitary journey, 29 Days Cycling Alone in Scotland is his latest video. Unlike many other bikepacking videos, however, Richard’s journey is devoid of narration. Filled with incredible views of the Scottish countryside, his video displays the beauty of the country’s rolling hills, backcountry roads, castles, and wildlife without interruption.

Over the course of a month, Richard rode 1,690 kilometers with 15,266 meters of elevation. Wild camping at 24 locations, Richard’s experience at the edges of Scotland’s rich, rolling green terrain displays the intersection of its modern yet seemingly ancient landscapes. Though the lack of an immediate, dangerous, exciting hook might seem boring, this display of relaxing silence can serve as a reminder of what many of us go on bikepacking trips for. In search of an escape from the bustle of everyday life, riding for a month through Scotland seems like the best way to find that increasingly rare sense of silence.
