A decade after developing their first welded, waterproof bikepacking packs, the team at Apidura just unveiled their new Expedition Series bags. For more information on this new line, explore all the details below…
Developed over a decade of real-world use and rider feedback, Apidura’s new Expedition Series has been re-engineered from the ground up. Taking inspiration from the brand’s original welded waterproof bags, this new set adds a host of features to each part of the system while maintaining stability and impermeability to rain and moisture. Let’s dive into each of these new bags.
The Expedition Handlebar System
One of the biggest components of the new expedition series is the all-new handlebar system. The Expedition Handlebar Pack features a clamp-free design that promises stability without heavy hardware, while also freeing up handlebar space and enabling flexible capacity options. The handlebar system features Apidura’s BarSpace Modules, which move the pack away from the bars. The modules connect directly to the Handlebar Pack via the integrated BarSpace Plate.
Dedicated three-prong mounting points on the BarSpace modules allow for the system’s GPS mount and Accessory Arm to be mounted off the bars. The handlebar system also has an Expedition front cargo mesh and an Expedition Accessory Pack. These optional components expand carry capacity and can convert into wearable, on-body storage. The Expedition Handlebar system comes in both 9 and 13L options, weighs 436 and 448 grams respectively, and costs $228 and $248.

Expedition Saddle Pack
The redesigned Expedition saddle pack is said to enhance stability through a new channel that conforms to the seatpost. It’s supported by silicone grip strips to increase hold. The bag also features a newly developed Hypalon Cradle that compresses contents toward the base of the pack. The new packs feature updated shapes that improve clearance, with sizing that grows longer rather than wider for broader bike compatibility, and integrated three-prong mounts for secure rear light attachment. The bags also have side cargo mesh pockets and a rear compression cradle. There are three sizes of the new Expedition saddle pack: 9, 13, and 16L. They cost $213, $228, and $241, respectively.
Small bags and accessories
Other additions to the Expedition series include newly designed half- and full-frame bags, as well as some top-tube bags. They all promise improved water resistance and durability, as well as a fully seam-welded construction and a lightweight three-layer Expedition-grade fabric. There are two sizes of the top tube bag: .5 and 1L, and a myriad of offerings in the frame bags, ranging from 2.8 to 10L. The top tube bags range in price from $71 to $84, and the frame bags range from $168 to $261.
