The new Bags by Bird Side Bustle Pannier is designed to be compact and lightweight and has a tapered shape for extra clearance while riding or pushing. Find all the details here…
Jay Ritchey of Bags by Bird (BXB) in Tucson, Arizona, just released his first pannier after designing some for a friend to use in the Ride Across Arizona (RAAZ) race, a 600+ mile gravel route along the northern half of the state. The Bags by Bird Side Bustle Pannier is the final result. It’s a lightweight and compact roll-top pannier with an 11L capacity and tapered profile to help them keep clear of obstacles on the trail.

The bottom and back of the Side Bustle Pannier are reinforced with highly abrasion-resistant fabrics (Ultra800 when choosing Ultragrid colors or ballistic nylon or 1000D Cordura for other fabrics), there is a removable plastic sheet in the back panel for added structure, and an internal batten behind the hypalon strap area helps it keep its shape against the rack. The Side Bustle Pannier is 10″ wide, 5.5″ deep, and 12″ tall when rolled, and it weighs approximately 311 grams (11 ounces) with Ultragrid and Ultra800 fabric.

Although the Side Bustle Pannier isn’t waterproof due to its stitched construction, the fabrics used are waterproof so they should be highly weather-resistant. The panniers are sold individually (or as a pair if requested) and are made to order in your choice of upper fabric type and color, including Ultragrid, X-Pac, or any other type of fabric BXB has on hand. Each panniers includes three Voile Nano Straps for the upper and lower attachment points, and you can add a blinky light mount for an extra $5.
Panniers cost $125 USD each, and the current lead time is 4-6 weeks. Head over to BagsxBird.com to learn more.
