Looking for a really low granny gear? Seth over at Berm Peak just created the ultra-low “Beagle” drivetrain…

It’s far from April 1st, but given bikepackers’ proclivity to massive cogs and tiny chainrings (for carrying a bikepacking load), we thought some of you would get a kick out of this. Inquiring minds wanted to know, so Seth at the Berm Peak YouTube channel (formerly known as Seth’s Bike Hacks) just invented what’s perhaps the lowest bicycle gear in the world. The Beagle is a 24 x 74-tooth, ultra-granny, singlespeed drivetrain made for towing… er, just to see what it was like. For the record, that’s 8.9 gear inches with that 27.5 x 2.2″ Maxxis Icon!

“It’s not really good for a whole lot.”
