After receiving nearly $40,000 in pledges to support BIPOC riders on pedal-powered adventures in 2021, we’ve selected nearly 30 Collective Routes Access Fund awardees, and we’re now asking those who pledged to complete their donation and make these trips, routes, and programs a reality…

Last year, we launched the Bikepacking Collective Routes Access Fund with the goal of helping change the face of bikepacking by increasing representation and supporting aspiring BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) writers and creatives. Given the unique obstacles these groups face due to generations of systemic racism and inequitable access to the outdoors, we’re committed to elevating BIPOC voices through inclusivity in route creation, storytelling, and knowledge sharing, and we believe this fund is an important step in that process.

We put out a call for applications and received a wealth of submissions for unique, inspiring, and meaningful new routes, trips, and programs. Our BIPOC-led committee met virtually several times throughout the spring to develop a strategy for reviewing travel grant applications against the backdrop of a global pandemic and to discuss each application in detail. Given the high quality of the applications, picking awardees was an incredibly challenging process, but we’ve selected nearly 30 individuals to support this year.

Today, we’re calling on those who pledged to make a donation last year to honor their pledge so we can distribute money to this year’s recipients. Please click here to complete your donation. Forgot how much you pledged? Look for a follow-up email with a reminder shortly.

Note: If you didn’t pledge your support last year but would still like to make a donation, we would gladly accept it, and 100% of post-transaction-fee (3%) donations will go directly to awardees. Thanks for your support!
