Luca Montoya’s latest video documents a 600-kilometer ride from Queenstown to Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island. The 30-minute video provides a detailed look at the route, including many entertaining POV shots. Watch it here…

Luca Montoya has been bikepacking around the world for the past three years, cycling over 20,000 kilometers and visiting more than 30 countries. On March 16th, it’ll be exactly three years since he set out on his monumental adventure from Singapore. Every now and then, he takes a month or two off to help keep the excitement for riding high, and if he’s having an amazing time somewhere, he’ll stick around. He let me know that he also doesn’t mind visiting countries back-to-back, so his around-the-world trip is quite flexible.

His latest video documents his time riding a section of the Sounds to Sounds route in reverse on New Zealand’s South Island, a 600-kilometer track from Queenstown to Christchurch. Most of the route follows side roads and trails, with only a few kilometers on main roads. The route includes a few iconic trails, including the Omarama Saddle and the Alps 2 Ocean Trail.

It dishes up a bit of everything, including entertaining POV shots, route beta, stunning scenery, and world-class riding. He’ll be sharing more soon, including footage from the Old Ghost Road, which Luca says was one of his favorite parts of the South Island. Find the complete Sounds to Sounds route below.
