After having surprise twins, reader Josh Rizzo couldn’t help but feel like his sense of freedom was gone. He was searching for a home hobby that he could enjoy while being around his family when he stumbled upon one of our Make Your Own Bikepacking Gear tutorials here on the site. After digging his grandma’s old sewing machine out of the basement, he learned the ropes of sewing by following our guides, and eventually went on to publish his own guide to making a simple trail wallet.

Now more than 45 bags in, Josh put together this short video to share his story of discovering a new passion for making bike bags and uncovering a newfound appreciation for microadventures with them. Watch it below, followed by a few photos documenting Josh’s bag-making journey.
