Combining his own experiences as a racer with his research and analytical experience, Dr. Moncrieffe’s new book provides essential insight into the rich history of Black cyclists that has largely been ignored in the cycling industry until now, and offers a groundbreaking contribution to the conversation on access, diversity, inclusion, representation, and anti-racism in policy and practice.

Beginning with the first non-white rider to compete in the Tour de France back in 1914 and leading all the way up to the Black cyclists who are pushing boundaries in the sport today, and featuring interviews with Major Taylor, Kittie Knox, David Weller, Maurice Burton, Russell Williams, Nelson Vails, Justin and Cory Williams, Gregory Bauge, Rashaan Bahati, Kevin Reza, Tre Whyte, Shanaze Reade, David Clarke, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, Nicholas Dlamini, and others, this new 240-page book will help readers “discover how a determination to succeed in the face of discrimination defined the racing careers of these great athletes.
