Blacksnow Cycles in China just released another cargo bike. This time, it features a 20″ front wheel, an integrated stainless steel front rack, and your choice of a derailleur, Rohloff rear hub, or Pinion gearbox. Learn more about the Blacksnow EDC MK2 here…

Blurring the lines between a mini-velo and a cargo bike is the new Blacksnow Cycles EDC MK2. Designed and manufactured by the same Chinese bicycle brand that released its first mini-velo earlier this year, the EDC MK2 is Blacksnow’s response to cargo bikes becoming more popular, with a bit of a twist.

The Blacksnow EDC MK2 is designed around a 4130 Chromoly steel frame and fork with a standover-friendly curved top tube. It relies on a 20″ wheel up front to keep cargo lower and your choice of a 26″ or 27.5″ rear wheel. The EDC MK2 can fit 2.4″ tires front and back, so it’s safe to say it could handle some light off-road riding when needed. It’s sold with an integrated stainless steel front rack that bolts directly to the headtube instead of the fork, which should have less effect on steering and control when riding.

It’s interesting to see Blacksnow offering the EDC MK2 in three distinct transmission/frame options. It’s available with a standard rear derailleur, Rohloff rear hub with an eccentric bottom bracket, or a Pinion gearbox. It has a split rear seat stay to support Gates carbon belt drive setups. The derailleur version uses 9 and 10mm quick-release axles and a 68mm threaded bottom bracket, while the EBB/Pinion models use 12mm thru-axles. All models have multiple bottle mounts, three-pack mounts on the fork legs, and rack mounts. The Blacksnow EDC MK2 comes in one size; the complete geometry chart is below.

The Blacksnow EDC MK2 is available through select dealers around the world. Blacksnow is working with Merry Cycles for US distribution with an estimated price of $890 USD for the derailleur version frameset (frame, fork, rack). According to Blacksnow, they have an agreement with Pinion and Rohloff that restricts them from selling those models as complete builds, so the final price will be higher, but it is yet to be determined.
