The new Bontrager BITS Integrated MTB Tool joins the growing list of clever stowable multi-tools, designed specifically to hide within your fork’s steerer tube. Find photos and details here…

Bontrager has released their take on the stowable multi-tool—something we’ve seen a lot of lately. The Bontrager BITS Integrated MTB Tool uses a bolted compression system within the fork’s steerer to securely hold both the carrier sleeve and tool. Using a similar design to the Granite Designs Stash Multi-Tool I reviewed over the winter, the Bontrager BITS replaces your star nut and doesn’t require additional modifications or steerer tube threading. The tool is accessed via a unique pull-latch, that they say holds the tool securely but offers immediate access on the trail.

Although Bontrager isn’t explicitly clear about what tools are included, we know for sure there is a chain breaker, a few hex keys and Torx bits, plus a screwdriver. There is also a specific storage spot for spare quick links. The tool includes two different bolt lengths and multiple spacers to work around different steerer lengths, and is compatible with mountain bike forks with threadless headsets and non-carbon steerer tubes.

The Bontrager BITS tool retails for $89.99 USD and is available now from TrekBikes.com or through your local Trek dealer. We’re hoping to get our hands on one for a closer look, so stay tuned.
