Over the years, the Brother Cycles Big Bro has proven itself as a tough, capable, and truly versatile all-rounder platform for taking on big rides and races all over the world. From the towering mountains of Kyrgyzstan to the rugged Scottish Highlands and the unforgiving Baja Divide, we’ve seen Big Bros pop up time and again in rig roundups and ride reports here on the site. With a rigid steel frameset that’s equally at home on 29er or 27.5+ wheels, it’s a longstanding pick for riders who want a practical platform to load up with bags and take anywhere.
The latest iteration of the Big Bro features several new adventure-minded touches. It now has top tube bag mounts and additional front rack mounting points, a UDH full-mount-compatible rear derailleur hanger, refined sliding dropouts for a stronger and more reliable rear end that plays nicely with or without gears, and a heat-treated 4130 chromoly main triangle. It comes with a 100mm suspension-corrected rigid fork, and both the frame and fork have a corrosion-resistant ED coating applied to help withstand the elements. Brother is now offering a Rohloff-specific dropout set that makes the Big Bro compatible with the Rohloff 135mm Speedhub with OEM axle plate, too.
This year’s colors are Stealth Black and a lovely green Swamp Thing (pictured above). Framesets are priced at £949 (including VAT) for buyers in the UK and £790.83 ($1,060) for folks elsewhere. Big Bros ordered now are expected to ship around the middle of next month.
