Flat bars on gravel bikes, drop bars on mountain bikes, drop-bar bikes that look like flat-bar bikes, it’s all fair game these days! California-based custom framebuilder Btchn’ Bikes is joining the party with their new Weird Ass Bar, a drop-bar replacement for flat-bar setups. Similar to the Surly Corner Bar that was released in summer 2021, the Btchn’ Bikes Weird Ass Bar is a drop bar with a short reach and shallow drop, making it a good substitute to most flat-bar configurations and providing some extra hand positions for long rides.
The Weird Ass Bar is compatible with standard flat-bar components (shifters and brake levers), uses a 22.2mm clamp diameter, and is handmade in the USA from either 4130 Chromoly steel or 3Al2.5V titanium. It uses 22.2mm tubing, so you can throw on some slip-on grips, bar tape, and get creative with the setup. The steel bar comes in two width options: 55cm wide at the drops (48cm at the “hoods”) and 59cm wide at the drops (51cm at the “hoods”). Both have a satin black powder coat finish.
The titanium version is 64cm wide at the drops (57cm at the “hoods”) and comes in your choice of either a raw finish or rainbow fade. It’s priced at $380 and $410, respectively.
