Café du Cycliste’s new gravel shoes, the Outlands, blend classic hiking boot aesthetics with high-performance cycling-specific features. Take a closer look at the French brand’s first foray into premium off-road footwear here…

Nice, France-based cycling and outdoor clothing brand Café du Cycliste just launched their first gravel shoes, the Outlands, which they say are designed for exploring off-road. Reminiscent of classic hiking boots, the Outlands have a casual look that hides some high-tech touches and materials. Blending style and performance seems to be the design intent behind the Outlands, which fits from everything we’ve previously seen from Café du Cycliste. That high-fashion-meets-high-performance approach is reflected in the Outlands’ substantial $390 price tag.

We’re glad to see the Outlands featuring a no-fuss lace-up design with metal D-ring eyelets and a stealthy lace keeper. They’re constructed using a leather upper with laser-cut ventilation holes and an abrasion protection layer around the lower half. Built around a 3K racing grade carbon fiber sole that’s optimized for maximum power transfer, we can only assume they’re less than ideal for extended hike-a-bikes. The Outlands also have a high-quality SOLESTAR™ insole and a custom rubber tread outsole with SUP traction for superior grip. They are mud-stud compatible and can be fitted with all major two-bolt cleats.

Café du Cycliste is offering the Outlands in a single “Sand” colorway in 11 unisex sizes from EU 37 to 47. The claimed weight is 370g per shoe in a size 43. They’re available now, and you can learn more about the Outlands over at CafeDuCycliste.com.
