Just announced, the new Canyon Lux Trail takes the lightweight design of the standard Lux but tweaks the geometry for better downhill riding characteristics, has a 120mm travel fork, dropper post, and bigger tires. Learn more here…

Canyon’s Lux is a cross-country race machine, through and through. While that means it likely has some impressive pedaling characteristics and likes to go fast, it may have the potential of feeling a little lost on steep descents and more rowdy trail riding. That’s where the new Canyon Lux Trail comes in.

The new Lux Trail takes the key design characteristics that sets the Lux apart from the more trail-oriented Neuron, like its flex-pivot suspension, lightweight overall build, and efficient pedaling, but packs it into a more trail-friendly package. The Lux Trail’s geometry is longer and slacker, is has a longer travel fork (120mm vs 100mm), as well as a dropper post, plus wider bars and tires. It’s also specced with a burlier fork (FOX 34 Step Cast or
RockShox SID 35), chunkier tires, and a riser bar.

The Lux Trail still based around 29″ wheels in all sizes, and due to the shock placement, it can fit two full-sized water bottles, but it’s clearly designed to tackle steeper and rougher terrain when compared to the standard Lux. The side-by-side comparison below shows some of the key geometry changes, which at first glance look ideal for anyone who isn’t set on a race rig but appreciates the benefits of a lightweight, short-travel full-suspension.

The Canyon Lux Trail uses a press-fit BB71 bottom bracket, boost thru-axle hub spacing, and a 115mm travel rear shock. All builds come with a dropper post, 12-speed drivetrain, and either 29 x 2.35″ or 2.4″ tires. The most affordable (albeit still expensive) Lux Trail CF 6 is priced at $3,999 USD and is offered in two colour choices: Alps Grey or Cape Red. The other three builds, which max out at $6,999 USD with the Shimano XTR 12-speed equipped CF 9 EB-Edition, all come in one colour and high-end build kits.

The Lux Trail launched in most countries yesterday, but pandemic-related component shortages will likely delay availability in the USA. Head to Canyon.com to get notified on their arrival or to learn more. We’ll do our best to get one in to review!
