In case you missed it, Logan recently published his comprehensive review Revelate Designs’ innovative new Spinelock Seat Bag system, and he had lots of good things to say about it. In short, the longtime creators of quality bikepacking gear have pushed the envelope once again, designing a clever new system for attaching your seat bag to your saddle. It’s one of the most stable bikepacking seat packs on the market, is completely waterproof, has an exceptionally lightweight and minimal mounting system.

In Logan’s words, “From the outside, the Revelate Spinelock System seat bag looks a lot like any other bikepacking-style saddle pack, but its patented mounting system is different from anything else on the market.” So, how’s it work? The system consists of three parts: the saddle clamp, seat bag mounted “Spine” baseplate, and pin. The ultra-low-profile clamp stays mounted to your saddle rails, and mounting the bag is as simple as lining it up with your desired mounting position on the “Spine” baseplate and sliding the pin through to connect the two. From there, you can use the straps to snug the bag into place. This video does a better job of explaining it:
