Given their long history in the cycling world—they’ve been making bags for bikes since the early 1980s—nearly everyone who reads this site is no doubt familiar with Ortlieb by now. They’ve built an unmatched reputation for their waterproof panniers, but you might not realize that they’ve also been producing a full line of waterproof, radio-frequency welded bikepacking bags since 2016. And for Collective Reward #056, two of our Bikepacking Collective members will receive an Ortlieb Handlebar-Pack (in 9L or 15L size) and Accessory-Pack of their own. Taken together, that’s around a $230 value for each lucky winner. Not yet a member? Join today and you’ll be entered to win this giveaway.
The Handlebar-Pack is Ortlieb’s taken on the classic handlebar roll. They offer it in either a compact 9L or larger 15L size. Both bags feature the same roll closures at both ends, plus a number of straps on the outside for lashing on other bags or items, including the Accessory-Pack. The Handlebar-Pack attaches to your handlebars with a unique and burly two-layer system, made up of a rubber-coated velcro strap and an outer nylon strap. The included foam spacers help with securely positioning the bag on your bars, and have the added bonus of protecting them if they’re carbon. The 15L version weighs in at 426g (15oz).

Logan tested the full suite of Ortlieb bikepacking bags when they were first released in 2016, and the Accessory-Pack was his favorite among them. It uses a clever mounting system to quickly attach to the Handlebar-Pack, and can also be used on its own a small handlebar bag. The aluminum buckle simply slides into place to securely close the bag, and cinch straps help snug everything down. The Accessory-Pack offers 3.5L of storage and weighs in at 206g (7.3oz).
