Two weeks ago, London-based Fairlight Cycles’ photographer/videographer Lloyd J Wright met up with ultracyclist James Hayden for a conversation in advance of the 2022 Silk Road Mountain Race (SRMR). Set against the stunning backdrop of Spain’s beautiful Pyrenees Mountains where James lives and trains, the four-minute interview introduces James, shares his feelings about returning to Kyrgyzstan for a third shot at SRMR, and offers some insightful perspective on managing failure.
You can watch the short video below, followed by a small gallery of photos of the Fairlight Holt hardtail that James is currently racing through the Tian Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan (at the time of posting, he’s in third place behind Sofiane Sehili of France and Rodney Soncco Zuniga of Peru, with a lot of race to go).
“If you want to go to places that are worth going to, then you have to pay the price by going the tough way.”
