According to Crankbrothers, the new Stamp Evo Pedals are designed to provide riders “more stability, more support, and better pedaling efficiency.” While we can’t confirm these claims, the Stamp Evo does have some unique features for anyone who’s concerned with back-to-back pedal strikes on the trail. The pedal body is made from forged 6061-T6 aluminum, but Crankbrothers added replaceable composite bashguards along the outside edge of the pedal. Is this hybrid-material pedal the best of both worlds?
The Stamp Evo also features a larger platform, 20 percent longer than the standard Stamp pedal, or 114 x 133mm, to be exact. A larger contact area provides more grip and less fatigue on rough trails. The Stamp Evo pedals are available in small and large sizes. They recommend size small for those in size 10 US (43.5 EU) or below, and large for those in size 10 US (43.5 EU) or above. The pedals have a slightly concave shape, use high-wear IGUS bearings, and feature a seal system developed through testing in Utah’s grit and sand, as well as the muck and grime of British Columbia.
The Stamp Evo pedals have 13 adjustable traction pins per side, inner and outer bearings, and a forged SCM 435 Chromoly Steel spindle. Nearly every part is available for purchase when it’s time to service your pedals, and they weigh 464 grams (large) or 418 grams (small) per pair. The Stamp Evo pedals come with a five-year warranty, cost $199 USD, and include extra pins and bashguards. Replacement bashguards cost $14.99.
