Cumulus from Poland now offers a “Neo” line of extremely lightweight, closed-footbox quilts that maximize the warmth-to-weight ratio. The down weights on their popular zip quilts have also been refactored. Find all the details here…

Last year, Polish gear manufacturer Cumulus launched their “Neo” line of four extremely lightweight quilts aimed at the high end of the market. Redesigned with a closed footbox and featuring high-loft 900 FP goose down, the Neo quilts save around 40 grams (1.4 ounces) over their already ultralight zip counterparts. The 450-gram model rated to 28°F (-2°C) comes in at 610 grams (21.5 ounces). It doesn’t get much lighter for this level of warmth.

Responding to customer feedback, the Neo line debuts in 150, 300, 450, and 600-gram fill weights, which provide comfort ratings down to 18°F (-8°C) with meaningful steps up in warmth between versions. As a longtime user of their Quilt 250, I think this is a good change; selecting the right weight for your use-case should be more straightforward now. Prices range from €315/$290 to €549/$509, depending on down weight.

Except for the simplified 150 version, all Neo quilts feature H-baffles and a shark-fin footbox to minimize cold spots. The quilt’s shape appears anatomically optimized compared to the boxy cut of the zip model. Like most Cumulus sleeping bag and quilt offerings, you can customize the Neo quilt to your specific needs through their configurator.

In the same stroke, Cumulus refactored the down weights of their zipper-clad, open-footbox quilt model to the same 150-gram spacing. The fill power has also been upped to 900FP, with a commensurate price increase to match the Neo line. Essentially, customers can choose between the enhanced versatility of the zipper and the maximum warmth-to-weight of the Neo line.
