One of the biggest complaints from those curious about the new 32-inch wheel size is that there aren’t enough 32-inch-compatible suspension forks available. Currently, the market is limited to inverted suspension forks because they lack a traditional lower-arch found on standard forks. Wren and Intend are the two most common forks we’ve seen, but at this year’s Sea Otter, Fox was teasing a prototype 32-inch Fox 34 fork.
Eric Olsen, professional mountain biker and owner of Jank Components, became the first rider at the 2026 Sea Otter Classic to make it to the dual slalom finals running a mega mullet (32″ front, 29″ rear) Stumpjumper EVO. His friend Evan Walker jumped on the opportunity to borrow Eric’s 32-inch wheel and fabricated his very own 32-inch suspension fork.
The custom DIY fork is made from connecting two Fox 34 forks together, essentially lengthening the lowers by 23mm. The result has the same axle-to-crown but 117mm of travel instead of 140mm. Evan has already raced some local events on the fork, and he’s been surprised at how natural the new setup felt.
