Following last year’s release of the two-person model, the Durston X-Mid Pro 1 is a one-person Dyneema tent weighing under 500 grams that offers loads of interior space and packs down small. Find everything you need to know here…

After the release of the two-person X-Mid Pro 2 last January, Dan Durston of Durston Gear has been busy developing a one-person version, and we’re happy to report that it’s finally here. Just like its larger sibling, the Durston X-Mid Pro 1 is a Dyneema composite shelter that, unlike most trekking pole-style shelters, requires just four stakes to set up and boasts lots of internal living space.

According to the Durston, the X-Mid Pro 1 offers best-in-class floor space, with the ability to accommodate users up to 6’8″ tall, and a 32″ wide floor area provides plenty of room for even the widest of pads. The tent has two zippered doors and vestibules, two adjustable peak vents for ventilation, and has panel guy lines and eight extra stake points that can be secured in windy conditions. There are two internal sleeves for storage, magnetic fly door toggles, and it packs down tiny thanks to its lack of poles and struts.

The body of the tent is made from a 0.55oz Dyneema fabric, the floor is a 15D Sil/PEU nylon, and the exterior zippers are YKK #3 AquaGuard zips. The tent itself weighs just 465g (16.4oz), and the stuff sack and required stakes will add another ~20g to that. Of course, this weight doesn’t include the required poles. For those not traveling with trekking poles, two adjustable poles can be used in their place. Durston offers their own Z-Flick Tent Poles (184g for two), which pack down to just 12″ sections thanks to their five-piece collapsable design.

A few specifics that set the X-Mid Pro 1 apart from the competition are its premium bonded-seam construction, abrasion-resistant woven floor, full coverage fly, and interior volume. It offers an impressive 45 cubic feet of internal volume, with 12″ of height at the ends. The vestibules are designed in a way that they don’t block the doorway, plus the required poles are positioned out of the doorway as well.

The X-Mid Pro 1 launched today and will be available to order tomorrow at 11 a.m. EST. The shelter (no stakes or poles) costs $599 USD, and all of the details can be found at DurstonGear.com. Supply is limited, so if you want one, you’ll need to act fast.
