I don’t remember exactly what I was doing at 15, but I certainly wasn’t considering riding 2,700 miles across the US. 15-year-old Edyn Teitge, on the other hand, is no stranger to bikepacking. In 2022, Edyn was curious about racing a bikepacking event and signed up for the Smoke ‘n’ Fire 400 event in Idaho, a challenging 370-mile loop with almost as many scratches as finishers. He finished in sixth place. In 2023, things started ramping up with a 7th place finish at the Stagecoach 400, he joined the Rodeo Labs ambassador team, and finished the 200-mile Fat Pursuit winter ultra in 8th place as the youngest competitor ever.

Edyn kicked 2024 off with a bang by becoming the youngest solo competitor, finishing the 2,700-mile route from Banff, Alberta, to the Mexico border in 19 days, 13 hours, 14 minutes (19d:13h:14m). Not only is Edyn the youngest finisher of this year’s event, there are also rumors that he is the youngest solo Tour Divide finisher ever, which is wildly impressive.

For Edyn’s rookie Tour Divide finish, he rode a Rodeo Labs Traildonkey 4.0 set up with a mechanical SRAM Eagle drivetrain, 700 x 50mm Maxxis Ramblers, a SON dynamo hub, and a full suite of custom Tailfin R&D bags. He carried a complete sleep kit, including a Zpacks Plex Solo Tent, Big Agnes Zoom UL pad, and Big Agnes Pluton UL 40° sleeping bag. Congrats, Edyn! What an amazing accomplishment.
