Hydra x Epas Bikepacking Bike and Kit Raffle

Epas.cc is behind several bikepacking events and routes: Winter Epic, Border Epic, Hydra, and Baltic Bound. The Hydra is perhaps their most popular event, following a 1,800-kilometer off-road route from Poland to Estonia. It’s developed a reputation as a challenging ride, with over 80 percent singletrack and only around 50 percent of riders finishing. In order to support riders of the Hydra event, the organizers thought it could be fun to raffle off a complete bikepacking kit (bike, bags, and gear) while supporting one of the most beautiful national parks the Hydra route travels through.

Epas teamed up with Ride&Mend, a bike shop in Kaunas, Lithuania, to build a unique custom bikepacking rig. They started with a 33-year-old MTB, stripped the paint off, brought in Karolis Grubis, a local street artist, to paint it back up, and re-built the frame with fresh components suitable for taking on Hydra. They worked with Husky, a Lithuanian outdoor shop, to put together a lightweight camping kit, pieced together a bikepacking bag setup, and even had a custom framebag made. As Paulius Bakutis of Epas explained, “We wanted to show you don’t need to be a millionaire to ride in events, do some custom work, and have some charity at the same time.”

The bikepacking setup is being raffled off, and all funds are going to restore the trails in Aukštaitijos National Park, a scenic area that the Hydra route travels through. Bids are open now, and there are nine days left to submit yours. Visit Epas.cc to place your bid.
