Esker Cycles just released their popular Hayduke and Japhy hardtails in titanium, featuring a custom yoke, rainbow anodized graphics, and sliding dropouts. Learn about the Hayduke Ti and Japhy Ti here…
Montana-based Esker Cycles’ two hardtail models have made a name for themselves over the years. The backcountry-friendly Hayduke became famous during the creation of the Baja Divide and has since become quite popular with the bikepacking crowd. The more progressive Japhy trail hardtail was released a little later and has quickly developed a following too. It should make a lot of folks happy to hear that Esker just announced titanium versions of both models.
Each Esker Titanium frame is made from cold-shaped 3/2.5 titanium tubing and features a custom chainstay yoke, internal dropper post routing, a bead-blasted finish, and rainbow anodized graphics. Framesets come with Portage sliding dropouts, a Wolf Tooth Components headset, seat collar, and axle. Both frames have a threaded 73mm bottom bracket and a 34-tooth maximum chainring size. Esker Ti frames are available in sizes small through XXL.
Similar to their steel counterparts, the Japhy and Hayduke Ti frames also have three-pack mounts on the top and bottom of the down tube, as well as a pair of bottle mounts on the seat tube. Unfortunately, neither have rack mounts. Hopefully we’ll see an option to buy Portage dropouts cast with a rear rack mount in the not-too-distant future.
Esker Hayduke Ti
The Hayduke Ti is built around a 120mm 29er fork and has clearance for 29 x 2.6″ or 27.5 x 3.0″ tires. The Hayduke’s Portage dropout system allows riders to adjust the chainstay length for either wheel size and run it as a singlespeed or with an internally geared hub, in either 148 or 142mm spacing.
Esker Hayduke Ti framesets ($2,300) and Level 2 completes ($5,200) are available for purchase now with delivery in June. Level 1 and 3 completes will be available later in the season for $4,400 and $6,000. For more information on pricing, specs, and availability, head over to eskercycles.com.
Esker Japhy Ti
The Japhy also has a 120mm fork and Portage dropouts but is 29er-specific with tire clearance up to 29 x 2.8″. With a 76° seat tube and 66° head tube, Japhy leans toward the hardcore hardtail side of the geometry spectrum.
