Farr’s Carbon Aero-Bolt On stirred up lots of discussion in my first look article, and for good reason. It’s an interesting little component but comes with a hefty price tag. For those who missed it, the Carbon Aero-Bolt On is a bar-mounted extension that provides an additional aero-style hand position and a spot to mount lights or GPS devices.
One of the complaints I had with the original design was the slippery surface on the bare carbon, which has been addressed with this latest iteration. Farr has added a rough clear coat finish on the grip area that is grippy with or without gloves, and they’ve also updated the graphics. Otherwise, the Carbon Aero Bolt-On still weighs just 98 grams, is compatible with most 31.8mm bars, and works on both flat and drop bars. It can also be paired with their updated Arm Rest Kit for those looking for something closer to a true aero setup. Unfortunately, the high price tag has been raised by an additional $10, bringing the cost to $165 USD ($242 AUD).
