Fischer Olpin of Fish-Ski Designs in Utah just made a fresh batch of his convertible backpack panniers, along with a bunch of other gear, and it all goes live at 4:20 p.m. MST today. Get all the details here…
Utah’s Fish-Ski Designs, owned and operated by Fischer Olpin, stands out among the growing number of bag makers for its distinct look, often featuring upcycled materials and bold, bright colors. While the Fish-Ski backpack panniers aren’t a new offering, the latest batch is the largest yet. He designed them to solve the problem he was having with flying with his bike and bags to Japan for the Mystery Tour.
“I knew I needed a backpack for the flight, but didn’t know what to do with it when I got there,” Fishcher explains. “I started scheming up ideas on how I could make my bike bags into a backpack for plane travel.”
The backpack panniers consist of three segments that can all zip together to form a functional backpack or unzip to create two panniers and a small handlebar bag. The panniers feature a removable plastic insert to improve rigidity, and all three bags are attached to the bike with Micro Voile straps and include comfortable backpack straps for travel. They are seam-sealed to keep out water and weather. There are four different colors available, with options for 10” panniers and smaller 8.5” panniers, but the handlebar bag is the same for both sizes.
A bunch of other gear will be available on the drop, including trail flutes (hand-made in Southern Utah), feed bags, Jones H-bar/Surly Moloko bags, half frame bags, fanny pack handlebar bags, bike nuts, top tube bags, handlebar rolls, bevvy carriers, and saddle bags. The panniers cost $579 USD, and the other items costs between $25 and $170 USD.
Everything goes live at 4:20 p.m. MST, so set a reminder to head over to Fish-Ski.com later today.
