Bits & Bobs

New products that are worth highlighting but didn’t make the Dispatch…

Monolith Tools Spoke Wrench

Made in USA / $30 at MonolithTool.com

Monolith Spoke Wrench

After looking at a period-correct reproduction of the Wright Brothers’ bike repair shop, Aaron of Monolith Tools noticed the spoke wrenches were nearly identical to what most people use today: a twisted loop with a brazed bit. This inspired Aaron to design a set of spoke wrenches that are more ergonomic and precise—perfect for full-time mechanics or wheel builders. They come in four standard sizes and can be purchased individually or as a four-pack.

Genesis Fugio Gets a New Look

Made in Taiwan / £1,299+ at GenesisBikes.co.uk

Genesis Fugio 2023

The Genesis Fugio was just updated for 2023, moving to a 6061 Aluminum frame for a lighter package with a noticeably stiffer front end, according to Genesis. It still has a matching carbon fork with lots of mounts, internal cable routing, and the frame is covered in mounting points for racks, cages, and other accessories. The Fugio comes in three new colors and build kits ranging from £1,299 to £1,999.

Search and State Linen Field Shirt

Made in NYC / $165 at Search and State

Search and State Linen Field Shirt

You’ve probably seen the SAS Field Shirt on this site. Logan practically lives in his. Search and State just released a new version that’s made from organic linen, which they claim is breathable, ultra hygienic, anti-bacterial, odor resistant, anti-static, durable, and eco-friendly. It looks sharp, too! Get on their mailing list and get 15% off.

PAUL Post Mount Brake to Flat Mount Front Fork Disk Adapter

Made in CA, USA / $32+ at Paul Component

We mentioned the reverse of this in our GRX review the other week, but there are plenty of great post-to-flat adapters too. PAUL just came out with a lovely option that allows you to mount a post-mount disc brake on a flat-mount fork. “It’s machined to extremely high tolerances here in Chico, California, and comes in either 0mm or 20mm.”

Zpacks Offset Trio tent

Made in FL, USA / 650 grams (22.9 oz) / $869 at Zpacks

Zpacks Offset Trio

Zpacks just introduced the Offset Trio tent, a three-person Dyneema shelter that they state “is an indulgently spacious ultralight three-person tent designed for hikers seeking the most sought-after tent features.” The Offset Trio has roomiest interior of any of their three-person tents and features more headroom and a wider, longer floor that works for taller couples up to 6’6″ (198 cm). It’s not cheap, but if “tent is rent,” then it might not be a bad investment for a couple heading out on a long bikepacking trip.

Wizard Works Bespoke Frame Bags + New Features

Made in UK / £250+ at Wizard Works

Our friends at Wizard Works in London are accepting new orders for custom frame bags, which will remain open until January. They’ve added new standard features, including a hydration port, pump/tent pole straps, elastic lacing upper attachment, and lower Hypalon lash tabs with removable Omni-Tape straps. They’ve also upgraded all of their zippers and added the option to upgrade to a double-zip design.

What Handlebar Clamp Area Diameter Do You Have?

Bar Clam Size

In our review of the Miss Grape ILCOSO cradle yesterday, we listed the lack of a 35mm handlebar clamp as one of the cons. A reader also mentioned this shortcoming in the conversation. Once again, this piqued our interest as to how many people are using handlebars that have the newer 35mm clamp area diameter. Take a second to fill out the survey below and let us know what size handlebar clamp area size you use/prefer. We’ll report back with the results next week.

Watch Out for Stolen Bedrock Mountain Clogs

Bedrock Mountain Clogs

Long story short, Bedrock Sandals was expecting a major restock of their Mountain Clogs, but the shipment has gone missing, and they’re apparently now popping up on eBay and other reselling platforms. If you see any Mountain Clogs for sale online that aren’t from an authorized Bedrock retailer, email Bedrock to let them know. They are a small company and a hit like this has a big impact. Lucas Winzenburg: Ardennes Arbalète, Belgium

I rode across Belgium a decade ago, but I’ve always regretted that I was rushing to Brussels to catch a flight back home and didn’t have a chance to properly soak in the country’s subtle beauty. The idea of returning to ride the Ardennes Arbalète has captivated me since we posted it in 2018, and I’d love to get back to experience a memorably scenic and charming region of Belgium at a more reasonable pace.
