Building on the two-person CrossPeak 2 released last year, the new Hyperlite CrossPeak 1 is an ultralight one-person, three-season tent with a freestanding design and Dyneema Composite Fabric construction. Learn more here…

Last year’s launch of the CrossPeak 2 marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Hyperlite Mountain Gear. Although the brand is no stranger to ultralight tents and packs, most of which are made from Dyneema Composite Fabrics (DCF), the CrossPeak 2 was their first freestanding tent. It uses a simple X-pole construction with a small horizontal canopy pole, exterior pole sleeves, and a single-wall construction. I wrote a detailed review here, but to summarize, I found it impressively light, easy to set up, and rock-solid in all conditions.

We figured it was only a matter of time before Hyperlite released a one-person version of the CrossPeak tent, and the day has finally come. The new Hyperlite CrossPeak 1 tent is a one-person version of the two-person model I tested. It’s made from 100% waterproof Dyneema Composite Fabrics, with DCF5 fabric for the fly and DCF10 for the floor, 20D Sil-nylon for pole sleeves, and No-See-Um Mesh everywhere else.

According to Hyperlite, the CrossPeak 1 is among the lightest freestanding one-person tents available, weighing 28.67 ounces (813 grams) for the complete tent, excluding extra guylines or stakes. The floor is 88″ long and 32″ wide at the head, tapering to 29″ at the feet, and it’s 42″ tall inside. It uses the same X-Pole construction with two main poles and a cross pole, and the tent comes with three aluminum DAC Featherlite NFL 8.7mm poles, which Hyperlite explains are stronger and easier to repair in the field compared to ultralight carbon poles. When packed down, the pole bundle is 15.25″ long. Watch Hyperlite’s walkthrough video below for more details:

Compared to the CrossPeak 2, the CrossPeak 1 has a single door and vestibule, and it weighs 5 ounces (141 grams) less. Although it can withstand harsh weather, the CrossPeak 1 is designed as a three-season tent. It’s made in Mexico and costs $825 USD, which, like the CrossPeak 2, is among the most expensive ultralight bikepacking/backpacking shelters available.
