Yesterday, Jeff Frane, the founder of All-City Cycles, and Josh Klauck the owner of Minneapolis’ Angry Catfish Bike Shop, formally announced the launch of their new joint venture, Wilde Bicycle Company (@wilde.bikes). The new brand will offer a range of readymade and fully custom US-built frames in titanium, steel, and aluminum, as well as a collection of parts, accessories, and soft goods.

Describing their ambitions, the Wilde team wrote, “We will utilize our network of talented friends, fabricators, artists and partner-shops to create a unique footprint in the industry. The best materials, thoughtful design, the finest craftsmanship, enduring quality. No compromises. Bicycle products and culture from the culture creators, working to keep more of the money in the community.”

Find a brief overview of Wilde’s current line of US-made models below. Note that they plan to add Taiwan-built frames at some point down the line to help make their products more accessible to buyers.

Wilde Earth Ship

Wilde Earth Ship

The Earth Ship is what Wilde describes as a “gravel race bike that can flex into bikepacking.” It’s handbuilt in the US from a mix of Reynolds 853 and Columbus Life tubing and is offered in four stock sizes (S-XL) or with custom geometry. The frame will clear 700C x 50mm or 650B x 2.2″ tires, has three sets of bottle mounts, top tube mounts, fender mounts, a 68mm bottom bracket shell, flat mount brakes, and it uses Paragon’s modular cable management system. It includes an ENVE Adventure Fork with three-pack mounts on each leg and internal dynamo/brake routing. Pricing starts at $2,500 for a steel frame/fork in stock sizes, and the Earth Ship is currently available in all sizes in the pictured blue/dark pink colorway. See details here.

Alongside the steel Earth Ship, there’s also a titanium version available. Other than the tubing, the frame specs remain the same as those of its steel counterpart, and pricing starts at $3,900 for a frameset. The lead time for an Earth Ship built from titanium is around 4-5 months. Find details here.
