From the mind behind Nordest Cycles, Jerónimo Cycles just relaunched with two models: the Sfarrapa, an off-road/gravel drop bar rig, and Txabardo, a trail hardtail. Learn more about both bikes and the relaunch here…

Many of our readers might be familiar with Nordest, the brand behind bikes the Super Albarda and Sardinha, one of my favorite hardtails I’ve ridden in the last few years (find that review in the related content grid at the bottom of the post). However, you might not be aware that the person behind Nordest also has another bike brand that’s been around even longer. Geometry wiz Pedro Jerónimo created Jerónimo Cycles back in 2010, and today, Jerónimo has relaunched with two new flagship models: the Txabardo trail bike and the Sfarrapa gravel/adventure frame, both named after unique characters that once lived in the small village in northeastern Portugal where Pedro Jerónimo was born and raised. Both of these bikes will be available in titanium and Reynolds 853 tubes. Read on for details.

For fans of Nordest, don’t fret. The Nordest brand will live on. The idea is that Nordest will continue selling affordable frames in CRMO4130 with external cable routing and “avant garde” geometries. In contrast, Jerónimo Cycles’ bikes will only use Reynolds 853 tubing in the steel versions, internally routed cables, and slightly more “traditional” geometries.

Jeronimo Cycles Sfarrapa

The Sfarrapa was named after a very well-known Portuguese smuggler, Esfarrapa. According to legend, he knew every trail and path in the area, and always dressed extremely modestly even though he was a wealthy man.

This frame can work with one or two chainrings and was designed for both 700c and 650b wheels. It comes with internal cable routing and is compatible with Shimano Di2 shifting system. Specs below.
