Mica Cycles, the creator of the minimal Rat Tail Rack, just released some nifty custom cam lock straps made by ARNO in Sweden. The Mica Mini Cam Straps look like an ideal option for any rack or cargo cage setup. Check them out here…
Having gone bikepacking with Skyler of Mica Cycles several times now, I’ve always known he had a love/hate relationship with rubberized cargo straps. On the one hand, they grip gear and racks well, but on the other hand, there’s sometimes some stretch, which can translate into load movement on super-rough, high-speed terrain. Skyler prefers webbing straps for this reason, so he started looking for a budget-friendly, but reliable option to sell with the Rat Tail rack.
The Mica Mini Cam Straps are made by ARNO in Sweden, and they’ve been making them since the 1940s. It’s a simple and effective combination of an 18mm polypropylene webbing strap and a plated steel cam-locking buckle. There’s also a clever double-ring loop behind the buckle that lets you secure the strap to a rack rail, keeping it in place while you pack your bike.
Skyler customized the webbing to add a touch of flair, and the 100cm (39″) straps can be easily trimmed to whatever length you want using some sharp scissors and a lighter to finish off the end. The Mini Cam Straps cost just $9.50 USD each ($13 CAD), and are sold individually. The Mini Camp Straps pair perfectly with the Mica Rat Tail Rack, but they can be used on any rack, cargo cage, or anywhere else you need to secure gear.
Grab yours at MicaCycles.com. Skyler will also be at the Show n’ Shine in Vancouver this weekend, with some straps on hand, if you’re in the area.
