Designed and produced by Nemo, the new OSMO fabric meets top performance and sustainability factors and will be available in two variations, a backpacking-weight fabric and an ultralight fabric. OSMO is made from recycled polyester and nylon yarns and backed with a polyurethane coating for waterproofness. The blend of nylon and polyester isn’t common in a tent fabric, and according to Nemo, it offers the best of both fabrics in terms of durability, weight, stretch, and water absorption. This also allows them to avoid using traditional (and potentially harmful) chemical waterproofing coatings like PFCs or PFAS.
Nemo OSMO Features
- Proprietary composite weave
- Optimum strength and water repellency
- 3x less stretch
- PFC and PFAS-free
- Dries faster
- 100% recycled fabric
- Reduced chemicals
- Longer lasting water repellency
OSMO will be used in the updated Nemo Dagger OSMO tent and Hornet Elite OSMO lineup in 2022, with plans to apply it to more tent models in 2023. Nemo is working through some supply chain issues but is expecting the updated tents to ship to retailers this summer.
