Markus Stitz set out on a 10-day bikepacking trip through Kyrgyzstan to prepare for the Silk Road Mountain Race. Along the way he made this film…

No Stone Unturned is not only the story of Markus’ journey through Kyrgyzstan on one of the most remote bikepacking routes in the world, but also a reflection back to his childhood in East Germany. During this trip he unpacks his life while getting lost in the beauty of the Tian Shan Mountains.

No Stone Unturned was filmed and edited on an iPhone, with a mini tripod and a smartphone clamp. “I deliberately left my drone behind, as it would have been too intrusive on my adventure. As I still wanted to portray the sheer scale of the country I had to be creative. The filming of one scene in the film included a substantial hike back and forth along a steep mountain side. It was totally worth it,” Markus added.
